Justin and the Gentle Chicken Challenge

“Friendly farm challenge!” Justin said, tipping his aviator sunglasses. Chickens pecked the picnic basket, which made crumbs fly and feathers tickle his arms. He laughed and drew a twisty path in the dusty ground, saying, “Race me to the coop, but we keep it kind!” Because he loves turning moments into games, the flock looked up, curious.

Justin sprinkled a trail of corn on the path, which smelled warm and toasty. “Winner gets extra seeds,” he joked, and Captain Cluck stepped forward. Justin shouted, “Ta-da!” too loud, so the flock burst away, tipping a water pail and smudging his sunglasses in straw. He felt sorry and quickly set the pail upright, wiping the lenses clean.

Because the loud move didn’t work, Justin tried soft clucks and gentle whistles. Captain Cluck blocked the path like a feathery boss, so Justin changed the game: “No race—let’s dance it!” He stepped heel-to-toe like a chicken, tapping cones and opening a pool-noodle arch to guide the way. The flock watched, then bobbed closer.

The dance-path worked, so Captain Cluck led the flock under the arch and into the cozy coop. Justin refilled the pail and shared extra seeds, which made the yard feel calm again. “Best wins are gentle,” he said, smiling at the tidy path. Sunlight glinted on his clean sunglasses by the pail, and the coop clucked with happy sounds.
