The Blue-Ribbon Silly Seagull Sprint

Starring Justin
The dock smelled like salt and sun-warmed rope as Justin pushed up his aviator sunglasses and grinned. “Ready, racers? First to the red buoy wins!” he called to the squawking gulls. The boat wobbled, so he widened his stance and chose a zigzag course to make it extra silly.
Oars splashed, and Justin croaked a goofy “caw-caw,” which made the gulls burst ahead, laughing in the wind. He zigzagged, leaving silver ripples like a ribbon, because he loved friendly challenges. But his oar clipped a buoy rope, knocking a little red safety flag loose, which made him blurt, “My bad!” and lose time.
Because the flag mattered, Justin stopped, lifted it from the water, and tied it back tight. The Seagull Squad whooshed far ahead, which stung his pride and cost him big time. He peered at a faded harbor map on his seat, then chose a shortcut where dark, smooth water and sun-glints showed a hidden channel.
His new plan worked, so the boat slipped fast, riding a friendly wake until he drew even. A sudden gust pushed the gulls off course, and Justin could win, yet he cupped his hands and called, “Team finish!” They wheeled back, and together they zipped past the buoy, cheering. The red flag fluttered, and the waves shone like a blue ribbon of shared fun.
