Starring Sofia

Sofia tiptoed to the pond’s edge, nervous ripples fluttering in her belly. She watched Marina the Duck swim in graceful circles and giggled as the little duck splashed her webbed feet. "Come swim with me! The water’s lovely!" quacked Marina. Sofia looked uncertain but curious, her toes sinking into the cool, soft mud.

Sofia dipped one foot, then the other, feeling the cool splash on her legs. "What if I sink?" she whispered, her voice shaky. Marina smiled and paddled closer, saying, "I’ll swim right beside you. Just try fluttering your arms like wings!" Sofia squeezed her eyes shut, took a deep breath, and stepped into the water.

As Sofia fluttered her arms, she began to float, her heart pounding with excitement. "I’m doing it, Marina! I’m swimming!" Sofia beamed, forgetting all her worries. The cool water felt smooth and swishy, and laughter bubbled up as the duck swam circles around her.

Soon, Sofia swam confidently across the pond, feeling brave and proud. "Thank you, Marina! I couldn’t have done it without you," Sofia cheered, hugging her new friend. Warm sun tickled her cheeks and the smell of wildflowers filled the air. With a happy heart, Sofia splashed and played, her worries drifting away like tiny bubbles.
