Starring Alice

Alice hugged her toy with colorful shapes. “Tap-tap?” she chirped as the gym thumped and squeaked. Because the place felt big and rumbly, she scooted closer to Dad, who said, “You’ve got this, happy bean.” Coach Mina waved gently and knelt to Alice’s height.

Coach Mina set down tape arrows and dotted mats. “We follow the path,” she said. Alice’s eyes sparkled, because she loved exploring. The arrows made a map, so she stepped on each with tiny pats that went pat, pat, pat.

“Tap the mitts, little tiger,” Coach Mina said. Alice copied, whispering, “Tap-tap.” Because copying felt fun, she grew braver and touched left, right, then a gentle palm push. The mitts smelled like clean rubber, and the soft pads went pop! pop!

A water bottle tipped—splash! The mat got slippery, which made class stop. Alice frowned; her time to play was shrinking. “It’s okay,” Dad said, handing towels. “We fix messes.”

Because she wanted to help, Alice dabbed the water with soft towels. Coach Mina smiled wider and set bright cones to mark the dry lane. The gym smelled like orange cleaner now, and Alice felt proud. Lost time melted as everyone worked together.

“Showcase time,” Coach Mina said, holding a big pillow shield. Alice wanted the shiny star sticker, so she nodded. The tape arrows led to the target, and the class watched. Her tummy fluttered like tiny drums.

Halfway there, an arrow peeled up and stuck to her sock—a surprise! Alice wobbled and gasped, so she chose a new plan: follow the cone line and copy Coach Mina’s gentle “teddy-bear roll.” She rolled, popped up, and gave a soft push. The pillow whoomped and the room cheered.

After the whoomp, Coach Mina placed a gold star sticker on Alice’s orange top. Dad whispered, “So proud,” and Alice giggled. The cones and arrows looked like a friendly trail, reminding her that fixing messes and trying new paths can help you shine. The gym felt warm and happy.
