Crescent Lullaby and the Beetle’s Bright Problem

Starring Sleepy Slime

Sleepy Slime curled into a crescent on a warm pebble and hummed, “Hmm-hmm, nap-nap,” through a tiny smile. “Help!” cried a worried beetle. “My glow-berry rolled into that crack!” Because the song felt safe, the beetle told more: “It keeps my family’s nest cozy.” Sleepy Slime yawned and said, “I’ll listen and help.”

They followed a sweet, jammy scent and tiny scratch marks, so they knew the berry went deeper. “I’m slow, but steady,” murmured Sleepy Slime, which made the beetle breathe easier. Using a twig, the beetle drew a dust map of the crack. Sleepy Slime chose to slide in first, still humming to calm them both.

But the hum made the pebbles tremble, and the glow-berry bumped deeper into a trickly stream, which cost them time. “Oh no!” the beetle sniffed, trust wobbling. Sleepy Slime felt sorry and changed plans: “New idea.” They aimed sunlight with Slime’s glossy shine and used the soft nightcap as a scoop-net.

Water swirled faster, so they tied grass to the nightcap, making a little bucket together. “Lower… lift!” called the beetle. Because they cooperated, the berry rose safe, and trust felt mended. Later, Sleepy Slime curled crescent again, humming a tiny lullaby, while the beetle hugged the warm berry by the pebble.
