Sofia and the Embrace of the Bashful Bully

Starring Sofia
One chilly morning, Sofia wandered into the pine-scented woods and found Max, the boy everyone called a bully, digging a hole behind a fallen log. Max tried to look tough, but Sofia noticed his hands shaking. "Why do you always hide here, Max?" she asked, sitting a safe distance away. Max scowled, "None of your business!" but couldn’t hide the worry in his eyes.
"Do you ever get lonely out here?" Sofia ventured, twirling a bright blue feather between her fingers. Max shrugged, kicking at the dirt, but his shoulders slumped just a little. The forest was quiet enough to hear a bird’s soft song, and the smell of earth seemed to calm them both. Sofia’s warm tone made Max pause, and he muttered, "Maybe… sometimes."
Sofia leaned closer and asked, "Why do you laugh when someone falls, Max?" He frowned, fidgeting with his silver bracelet. After a long pause, he whispered, "Because…it’s easier than feeling left out." Sofia nodded, understanding blooming in her chest, and she said quietly, "It’s braver to make a friend than to hide."
Slowly, Max scooted closer, and Sofia smiled, wrapping him in a gentle hug. For the first time, Max’s tough mask melted away, revealing a shy, grateful grin. The soft forest light seemed to dance around them as two new friends sat quietly together, no longer afraid of being alone.
