Mochi’s Map to the Big-City Bone Fountain

Starring Mochi

Mochi trotted into the city, her red bandana fluttering. "It smells like warm pretzels!" she said, nose twitching. She spotted a big map sign and chose to follow the arrow to Sparkle Fountain Park, which made her tail floof with joy.

A noisy crowd rolled by, blocking the map, so Mochi got turned around and worried. A city pigeon swooped down and cooed, "I’m Pip. I can see the park from up high!" Mochi decided to follow Pip from crosswalk to crosswalk and use the yummy pretzel smell as a trail, which made her hopeful again.

Suddenly a parade whooshed in, tossing confetti that hid the ground, which cost Mochi time and left her furry coat messy. Balloons blocked the sky, and Pip vanished from view—a near-failure. "New plan!" Mochi said, pushing confetti into a neat pile to help, then spotting a bright ribbon of sunlight bouncing off windows that pointed toward tall trees.

Following the shining clue, Mochi burst into Sparkle Fountain Park just as Pip rejoined her. Water arched like a giant bone, and tiny rainbows danced. Mochi dipped her red bandana and laughed, "When plans change, we find new clues—and help each other!" The fountain’s spray glittered on her bandana like a little city map she could carry home.
