Spotlights and Silly Steps at the Big-Top
Starring Silly Baboon
Silly Baboon sniffed buttery popcorn and whispered, "I want to try everything!" His blue glasses shone as Ringmaster Ruby tipped her hat and said, "Watch first, little star." Because he felt brave and curious, he copied an acrobat’s stretch, which made Ruby smile—just a little.
He climbed the tightrope to copy a flip, but his paws felt scratchy on the rope, and a popcorn tub tipped. Confetti and kernels rained down, which made the practice stop and cost precious time. "I’m sorry," he said, ears low, as Ruby handed him a broom to help fix the mess.
After they swept, the big spotlight popped off, and the tent fell dim, which made everyone worry. "I can help," said Silly Baboon, sniffing the buttery trail toward the light tent. He followed the popcorn smell like a map, heart thumping, so Ruby nodded and waved him onward.
Inside, a metal lever was stuck. "Ellie, strong friend, can you help?" he called. Together they pushed; Silly Baboon waved his bandana to aim the beam, and the lights whooshed on, which made the crowd cheer. Ruby grinned, and Ellie rumbled happy, as bright spotlights painted the ring—and good choices—gold.
