Sofia and the Marvelous Pie Surprise

Sofia tiptoed into Grandma Plum’s kitchen, her nose twitching at the sweet smell of cinnamon and apples. "Are we making pie today?" she asked, eyes sparkling with hope. Grandma Plum smiled, her hands dusted with flour, and said, "Of course, dear! Today you'll be my special helper." "First, we mix the dough," Grandma Plum said, handing Sofia a big, chilly bowl. Sofia pressed her small fingers into the soft dough, giggling at the sticky mess and the cool, squishy feel. Flour poofed into the air, peppering them both, and they laughed as Sofia's pink dress got dusted white. The kitchen filled with the sound of happy giggles and the scent of fresh ingredients.

After tossing sweet slices of apples into the pie crust, Sofia carefully sprinkled cinnamon and sugar, feeling proud. "It smells like hugs and happy days!" she giggled. With Grandma Plum’s gentle guidance, she placed the wobbly lattice top over the pie, feeling brave and grown-up. Her cheeks glowed with pride as they slid the pie into the oven together.

When the golden pie finally came out of the oven, Sofia’s eyes went wide and she smiled so big it nearly reached her ears. She took her first warm bite, sweet and gooey, and whispered, "I did it!" Grandma Plum hugged her tight, saying, "You baked a marvelous pie, Sofia." The kitchen jingled with laughter as the scent of fresh pie floated through the whole house.
