The community room buzzed like a beehive. Evan tapped his rounded black glasses twice, and a tiny sparkle flashed. "Pillows and fairy lights," he whispered to his cousin, Mia, who nodded, "A cozy cloud!" Because the idea felt safe and soft, they set to work.

They stacked pillows like puffy blocks and laid a path of tape stars so feet would tiptoe. Mia lifted a string of fairy lights, but it was a knotty noodle, and a pillow bin bumped over. "Watch the cords, please," called a grown-up, which made Evan’s cheeks warm. So he changed the plan: lights tucked into clear jars and all cords kept low and safe.

They finished just in time, but the jar lights faded to a sleepy dim, and some kids drifted away. Evan tapped his glasses twice again. "Shadow stories," he whispered as Mia held a white sheet and snipped a moon and an owl. He traced the tape-star path with a tiny flashlight and murmured, "Hoo-hoo, quiet path."

Soft shapes danced on the sheet—moon, owl, and gentle trees—so everyone hushed and smiled. Evan pointed to the low cords and jars, and the grown-up nodded. "We did it," Mia said. "We did," Evan agreed, as fairy lights twinkled like tiny constellations over the pillow nest.
