The Snoozy Scramble and the Stubborn Blanket

Starring Sleepy Slime

Sleepy Slime yawned, “Mmm… picnic time,” following the sweet, strawberry smell. But the red-check blanket was stuck to a muddy rock, which made hurrying much harder. “Oh blanket, please come,” it murmured, nudging the edge with its glossy side. The mud felt cold and squishy, and Sleepy Slime blinked slowly under its nightcap.

Tugging made slurpy sounds, so Sleepy Slime tried a new idea. “A lever!” it whispered, sliding a sturdy stick under the edge. The stick snapped, splatting mud on the purple nightcap, which cost more time and made Sleepy Slime sigh. Feeling a bit droopy, it peered around for another way.

Gray clouds gathered, so Sleepy Slime crafted a water plan. “We’ll loosen the mud,” it said, shaping a leaf gutter to guide the brook. Water slid under the blanket—then it started drifting toward a deep puddle, a scary twist! Quick-thinking, it pinned a corner with a smooth pebble and narrowed the flow.

The mud let go at last, so Sleepy Slime rinsed the blanket and its nightcap until they gleamed. “Picnic saved,” it whispered, placing berries and bread on the clean checks. After the clouds parted, warm sun dried everything, and the sweet smell returned. Cozy and proud, Sleepy Slime rested on the smooth rock, smiling.
