Heartstrings and Pawprints: Mochi Finds Love

Starring Mochi
Mochi sniffed the evening air and wiggled her red bandana with yellow flowers. “Let’s make the heart path shine,” Lila said, laying out lanterns. Because Mochi loved helping friends, she followed a sweet strawberry smell to find ribbon for tying. Her tail swished with hope, and her paws felt the cool grass.
The scent led Mochi to Mr. Ravi’s bakery cart. “Careful, little helper!” he called, as a napkin stack puffed up and paper hearts tumbled. Mochi dashed after a rolling ribbon spool, which made Lila gasp, “Oh no, our pattern!” They lost time cleaning the mess, and Lila’s smile drooped.
Because they were behind, the sky grew darker, and the lantern string got tangled. “We need a new plan,” Lila whispered. Mochi pressed her nose to the damp path, stamping gentle pawprints in a curving map, and nudged lanterns to catch moonlight shadows. Trust returned as Lila followed the glowing trail.
A sudden wind whooshed, shaking the heart. Mochi sprang to the center pole and let her red bandana flap like a bright flag, so Lila could anchor the last knots. The lantern heart glowed steady, and neighbors cheered. Lila hugged Mochi and said, “Love is helping hearts find their place.”
