Starring Whimpy weiner

Whimpy’s nerves went “szzzz!” at the excited buzz of a picnic ahead. “Easy, me,” he whispered, but his shiny self whooshed and—slip!—he slid right through a sticky jam trap and got stuck. Sweet strawberry-cinnamon smells tickled his nose while the goo hugged tight. “Oh noodles,” he sighed, cheeks pink with worry.

He tried a tiny roll, which made the jam stretch… and grip tighter, so he froze. “Think, Whimpy,” he muttered, studying bubble trails in the jam to map a thin edge. Time slipped by, and bees buzzed suspiciously, which made him blush. He chose to stay calm and save his wiggles for a real plan.

Spotting a dropped spoon catching sun, he nudged it with a toe-tip roll until light flashed onto the jam edge. He tipped a paper bag of crumbs with his side, sprinkling grit to cut the stick. It worked—until a cloud slid over the sun, and the spoon clinked away. Heart thumping, he chose a new plan: “Use the sizzle!”

He buzzed his nerves on purpose—“szzzz”—warming his slick sides and sliding along the crumb path until—pop!—he was free. The mess had cost time and trust, so he shaped leftover jam into neat heart dots for the bees and cleared the lane. “Sorry, and thank you,” he said, smiling as buzzing turned friendly. Sunlight winked on the spoon beside a clean, jam-bright heart, and Whimpy rolled on, brave and careful.
