Sofia and the Firefly Fork

Starring Sofia
Sofia followed a glowing trail of fireflies until the forest path split into three shadowy roads. “I’m Sofia, Princess of the West,” she whispered, touching her silver tiara. The left road smelled like rain and moss, so she chose it, heart thumping with brave curiosity.
The air grew colder, and the fireflies dimmed, so Sofia knew she’d picked wrong. “I’m sorry,” she said, hurrying back to the fork, which cost her time and made her cheeks sting with worry. She used her tiara to scatter pink light over each road, then drew a quick map in the dirt with a stick and leaf markers to plan a better choice.
Guided by warm sparkle and a sweet smell like wild honey, she tried the middle road. Shadows thickened and the fireflies scattered, which made her chest tighten. Remembering their blinks in groups of three, she counted soft steps—one, two, three—tapping her tiara, and the lights returned in tidy trios to follow her new plan.
The trail led to a moonlit pond, but a cloud slid over the moon and everything dimmed again. “Stay with me,” Sofia said, setting her tiara on a flat stone so its pink glow made a steady beacon. She arranged the fireflies in a bright ring like a star-map, which pointed the safe way to their meadow, and joy rushed through her as they soared together into the night.
