Drums boomed beyond the trees, and Silly Baboon tapped his blue glasses, thinking hard. “Adventure… or trouble?” he whispered, sniffing smoky air and sweet mango skin. Because curiosity tugged him, he climbed the lookout fig to see better.

A line of apes marched with sticks and drums, which made Silly’s tummy twist. He tapped his glasses again and said, “I’ll warn the jungle!” So he thumped a hollow log—BOOM—sending echoes like thunder over the vines.

Because the echoes didn’t slow them, Silly set a silly alarm: rattly coconuts, crunchy leaf ropes, and bouncy banana peels. The first ape to reach it was a tiny chimp. “Careful!” Silly yelped, rushing to steady Lulu before she slipped.

A giant silverback stepped forward, staff tapping. “I am Chief Stoneback,” he rumbled. “Our river dried, and smoke chases us.” Silly’s prank had almost hurt someone, which made his cheeks burn hot.

Because he felt sorry, Silly offered fruit and fresh leaves. “Maybe I can guide you,” he said, voice small but brave. A sudden gust rattled branches, and falling coconuts thumped, which made the apes flinch and step back.

Silly nearly tapped his glasses to plan another trick, but he stopped and listened. The drums now sounded tired, not scary. So he chose a new plan: “Follow me to the hidden bend. Share, don’t shove,” he said, tying his bandana as a bright welcome flag.

They reached a narrow log over rushing water, which made some apes freeze. “One at a time,” said Chief Stoneback. Silly lifted a hand to tap his glasses—but chose trust instead, holding the bandana flag high so each walker felt brave.

At the hidden bend, cool water bubbled and flowers smelled like honey. Because they had been welcomed, the apes shared drums and helped patch the old nest huts. “Friends?” asked Lulu. Silly grinned. “Friends,” he said, saving his next tap-tap for a dance, not a scare.
