Starring Hairy balloon man, Sofia

At the garden’s edge, Hairy balloon man tells Sofia about meeting a gentle snake named Slink in the forest. He was worried Slink might pop his balloons, but chose kind words and helped untangle the snake from string. When he forgot his scissors, his careful knots and a found pair saved the day. Inspired, Sofia helps him leave a friendly balloon flower, learning empathy and problem-solving together.

The squeaky hand-pump went, “WHEE-squeak!” as Hairy balloon man filled a red balloon. “I keep losing my scissors,” he chuckled, patting his patched jacket. Sofia’s eyes shone. “Tell me about the snake you met!” she said. He nodded. “I will, Princess Sofia.”

“It began on a forest path,” he said. “I heard soft rustling and saw a long, green snake.” He held his balloons high. “I worried he might pop them, but I spoke first. ‘Hello there,’ I said.”

The snake whispered, “I’m stuck,” and wiggled just a little. Thin string tangled his tail. “I can help,” said Hairy balloon man, but he checked his belt and frowned. “Oh dear, where are my scissors this time?”

Back in the garden, Sofia leaned in. “Could you use ribbon to make space?” she asked. He grinned. “Clever! That’s what I tried.” He told how he tied ribbons to branches, lifting the string, so Slink could breathe easier.

“Then I made a balloon flower,” he said, squeezing the pump. “For courage.” Slink watched kindly. Hairy balloon man followed the string with careful knots, but a tight loop wouldn’t budge. “I really need those scissors,” he sighed.

He felt a lump under a jacket patch. “Aha!” The safety scissors! Snip—free at last. Slink coiled neatly and smiled with his eyes. “Thank you,” he murmured. Hairy balloon man offered the flower. “Friends?”

Sofia clapped. “You were brave and kind.” He nodded. “Slink was gentle, just scared.” “Let’s leave a welcome sign,” she said. So they tied a ribbon trail to the garden, in case Slink visited.

They hung the balloon flower on a branch by the path. A soft breeze made it bob like a nod. “Friends,” Sofia whispered. The hand-pump squeaked once more, and the garden waited kindly for a gentle guest.
