Bandana, Bubbles, and the Croc Kerfuffle

Starring Silly Baboon
Silly Baboon pushed up his blue glasses and sniffed the wet, leafy air. “I just need those bananas across the river,” he said, tying his red-and-yellow bandana snug. A splash answered—Kroko the Crocodile blocked the crossing. Because the path was shut, Silly chose to call, “Let me pass?” which made Kroko hiss, “Prove it.”
So Silly braided vines into a wiggly bridge and tried a trick: he flashed sunlight off his glasses to make a giant shadow that looked fierce. Kroko lunged; the vine snapped, and Silly’s glasses plopped into the river. “Hey!” he shouted, heart sinking, which made Kroko snort, “Silly stunts waste time.”
Dripping and worried, Silly noticed a sandy mound with speckled eggs near Kroko. “Oh,” he whispered, “you’re guarding your nest.” Because he understood, he changed plans: “I’ll watch your eggs. You fetch my glasses. Then I’ll build a safe path that curves away.” Kroko blinked, then nodded slowly.
Kroko returned the blue glasses, and Silly kept his promise, laying floating logs and lily pads into a curving, splash-free path. A sudden current rose, but they teamed up—tail push, quick tie—until the path held. Joy bubbled up; they shared bananas and laughed. Silly knotted his bandana to mark the safe crossing for all.
