The tiny map hummed like a friendly beetle, tick-tick-ticking in Rainbow Face’s hand. His rainbow-painted cheeks and colorful bead bracelets glimmered as he whispered, “Lead the way.” Because the hum grew louder toward the woods, he chose the path that smelled like mint and pine.

The map’s glow showed a treasure near a giggling river, so Rainbow Face tiptoed behind a mossy stone. He peeked at the river’s laughing reflection and whispered, “Excuse me, where does the treasure like to hide?” He waited, cheeks bright as a small, hopeful sunrise.

The river chuckled, “Follow light that dances, and breath that smells like leaf-tea.” Because he listened closely, Rainbow Face noticed sun-sparkles skipping downstream and a sweet, minty breeze. He set a leaf boat with one bright bead on the water to say thank you, which made the river giggle louder.

After a splash of wind, the map dimmed, which slowed his steps and worried his heart. Reeds crowded the bank, and two narrow ways appeared, both whispering. He sniffed for mint and chose the softer-scented way, even though it meant wading through cool, tickly water.

The softer path led to a sandy bend, but the treasure wasn’t there—just wet sand and crabby sticks. Because he felt stuck, trust wobbled like jelly. He gathered smooth pebbles and tapped a laughing rhythm on a flat stone, trying to match the river’s giggle and ask again.

The river’s ripples formed a wink and pointed him toward a hidden reed-curtain. To pass, he would have to leave the dim map floating like a lantern, so he chose to trust and set it free. Because of his kindness, the river made stepping-stone ripples that held his feet.

Behind the reeds waited a small wooden box tucked in roots, smelling like rain and lemon. He opened it to find river seeds and a tiny glass vial labeled “share,” which made his chest feel big and bright. He planted seeds along the bank and poured the vial, and the river sang in happy bubbles.

Because he shared, the map brightened and hummed again, and the river whispered, “Treasures hide where kindness lives.” Rainbow Face cleaned the messy bank and patted the mossy stone, feeling proud and peaceful. He headed home with sprouts nodding and the beetle-map purring in his backpack, rainbow reflection dancing beside him.
