Starring Mochi, Mr. Toothbrush

Mochi trotted through the piney woods, nose twitching at a minty smell. Under crunchy leaves, she found something long and smooth that looked like a bone. “Share time!” she yipped, tail swishing, because sharing made adventures extra fun.

A shy squirrel peeked from behind a mossy log. Mochi nudged the “bone” toward the squirrel, hoping to make a friend. The squirrel skittered back, unsure, which made Mochi’s ears droop a little.

The not-bone wiggled, blinked big eyes, and smiled a glossy smile. “I’m Mr. Toothbrush, Smile Sparkle Expert!” it chimed, bow tie shining. Mochi wagged in surprise and asked, “Do you need help brushing those tiny teeth, Mr. Toothbrush?”

Hearing the voice, the shy squirrel darted into shadows, so the moment of sharing slipped away. Mr. Toothbrush whispered, “Forest friends have sticky pine-sap teeth.” Mochi decided to follow the minty scent trail toward the stream, hoping the gentle sound would calm nerves.

At the stream, Mochi built a tiny brushing station: a leaf ramp, smooth pebble mirror, and a twig stand. But a splash muddied the bristles, which cost time and made Mr. Toothbrush droop. “Oops,” Mochi said, heart thumping, and she searched for clear water to fix it.

Carefully, Mochi rinsed the bristles in a clean eddy and patted them dry with the corner of her red bandana. The squirrel peeked closer, seeing the care, which softened the worry. Mochi stayed low and quiet, letting the squirrel choose to come near.

The squirrel stepped onto the leaf ramp, whiskers trembling. “Short, soft strokes,” Mr. Toothbrush guided. Mochi steadied the twig stand, and minty foam bubbled away the sap, so everyone held their breath—and then grinned at the tiny, shining teeth.

Relieved and proud, the squirrel offered an acorn-cap bowl for future rinses. Together, they mapped a pebble path to the stream—a “Smile Spot”—so friends could find it. As evening glowed, Mochi’s bandana and Mr. Toothbrush’s bow tie caught the last light, and everyone felt shiny inside, too.
