Rainbow Face and the Cloud That Could Giggle

Starring Rainbow Face
Once upon a breeze in the sky-high land of Colorville, Rainbow Face zipped and zoomed through the clouds. His cheeks shined cherry-red, his eyes twinkled blue as the midday sky, and his smile sparkled with all seven colors. Every time he flew by, Colorville brightened, and everyone felt their worries whoosh away.
But one afternoon, as Rainbow Face danced over the green valley, he spotted something strange—a huge, grumpy Dark Cloud hovered just above the hills. The Dark Cloud’s eyes narrowed, and thunder rumbled softly in the air. Rainbow Face felt a little flutter in his heart as he slowed to look.
“Where do you think you’re going, all bright and shiny?” grumbled the Dark Cloud, thunder crackling in his voice. Rainbow Face gulped, keeping his voice gentle as he replied, “I’m just spreading a little cheer!” The air crackled with nervous energy between them.
“Well, not today,” rumbled the Cloud. “No rainbows allowed!” Suddenly, a gusty wind whirled through the valley and tugged Rainbow Face into the heart of the Dark Cloud. Inside, everything turned chilly and gray—cold drops of rain whispered, “You’re not bright enough… not strong enough… not sparkly enough…”
Rainbow Face’s colors dulled, and his sparkle dimmed. He began to feel lost, cold, and little. But then—drip... drop... plip!—a single brave tear slipped down his cheek. Deep inside, a tiny warmth shimmered.
“I am still me,” whispered Rainbow Face, cradling his warmth. Suddenly, orange brightened his cheeks, green tickled his nose, and indigo danced in his hair. His colors glowed stronger than ever, shining right through the clouds. All around, the rain seemed to sparkle with hope.
With a burst of courage, Rainbow Face rocketed up, painting a brilliant rainbow right through the Dark Cloud’s middle. The Dark Cloud blinked in surprise—then, something amazing happened. He started to laugh! “No one ever tried to brighten me up from the inside before,” he chuckled.
From that day on, whenever a storm rolled into Colorville, Rainbow Face would glide through it, lighting up the sky for everyone to see. Even the Dark Cloud liked to join in, rumbling with giggles instead of thunder. Because Rainbow Face learned the brightest colors can shine—even inside the darkest cloud.
