Sofia and the Sunlit Yellow-Brick Surprise

Starring Sofia
Sofia adjusted her silver tiara with pink gems and sniffed the air. “Do you smell tomato sauce?” she whispered to herself, heart fluttering with wonder. Because the warm smell drifted from Willow Glen, she chose to follow it, her pink dress swishing with each eager step.
Inside the glen, soft willow leaves brushed her cheeks and whispered shhhh. She plucked three leaves to make a little map, then chose the path that bent toward the warm, saucy scent. A singing stream blocked the way, so she stacked smooth stones to skip across, splash by splash.
The trail slid into a mountain tunnel that hummed with echoes. A riddle scratched on the wall read, “Follow light, not fright,” so she aimed her tiara’s sparkle toward a pale glow. Dust tickled her nose, which slowed her down, but the glow grew brighter, and hope did too.
She popped out by a marsh where two alligators lounged like bumpy logs. Sofia tried to sneak around, but reeds crackled, and the alligators frowned. “Sorry,” she said quickly. “I’m following a sauce smell.” Their eyes softened a little, yet she lost time untangling her dress from cattails.
After freeing her dress, Sofia noticed three tiny yellow-brick houses ahead, each with a different delicious smell. She started for the closest, but the scents swirled and switched places, which made her doubt her path. Remembering the alligators’ keen noses, she asked, “Will you help me track the true house?”
Gilly pointed his snout to the middle house, and inside waited the Marshmallow Queen with walls soft as pillows. “Welcome, clever noses,” the Queen said, but a marshmallow beam sagged like warm taffy. Sofia chose fast: she angled her shining tiara to cool the goo with mountain light while the Queen whisked.
The beam firmed, but suddenly another corner slumped, and pans rattled. Tension prickled; Sofia swapped plans, asking, “Team swirl!” Together they cooled every corner, which saved the kitchen just in time. The Queen laughed with relief and served chicken Parmesan, cheesy and fragrant, to everyone who helped.
Sauce, cheese, and smiles warmed the room, and trust felt mended like a snug quilt. “Kind noses, brave choices,” said the Queen, gifting Sofia a sugar-pearl button. As stars blinked on, Sofia traced the yellow bricks and remembered the path she made. The night carried home the happy tomato scent.
