Zoo Clues and Cocoa: Mimi, Scotty, and the Pebble Parade

Starring Holiday Scotty, Mimi Moptop
“Uh-oh, snacks missing,” Holiday Scotty whispered, patting his tropical shirt pocket and finding only cinnamon-cocoa smell. Mimi Moptop drummed her spoon—tap tap—“Dino beat says: search!” The gate whooshed open, so they hurried to Penguin Cove first, noses twitching in the chilly, splashy air for any snacky clues.
At the misting fountain, their paper map got drippy and smeared, which made Mimi frown. “New plan,” Scotty said, tearing dry corners to sketch. They drew dino-footprint arrows and lined Mimi’s tiny shoes in T‑Rex order on the path, so their homemade map could guide their feet.
A friendly zookeeper jogged over. “I’m Lila—Pebble’s parade starts in twenty minutes,” she said, pointing toward the wavy-blue signs. Mimi gasped, and because they wanted to help cheer, they promised to be there on time. Lila added, “Follow the cold breeze and the gull cries when the signs get tricky.”
Because they hurried, a cheeky capuchin zipped down and snatched their snack-stick with the map scraps. “Hey, Bongo!” Lila called, worried. They lost time chasing him through leafy turns, which made Mimi’s cheeks wobble. Scotty took a breath and whispered, “Camouflage and copycat—our turn.”
Scotty eased closer, shirt blending with the foliage, and traded a star-cut mango for their map scraps. Because Mimi’s chitter matched Bongo’s rhythm, the monkey tilted his head and agreed. With the pieces back, they noticed striped shade from a nearby awning pointing like zebra lines toward a chilly breeze, so they followed the shadows.
They reached Penguin Cove, but the crowd murmured; Pebble was hiding behind a rock and wouldn’t start. Lila’s voice softened, “Pebble gets shy.” Because the parade clock ticked, Mimi tapped a gentle beat and chirped, “Waddle-welcome,” yet Pebble only peeked with worried eyes.
“He likes gentle smells,” Scotty said, uncapping warm cocoa so cinnamon drifted like a trail. Mimi kept the steady beat, and the striped shade formed a safe path that looked like flat ice. After Pebble waddled to the scent and rhythm, the parade burst to life, which made the crowd cheer and splash.
After the parade, Lila pinned shiny helper badges on them and said, “You listened, you led, you cared.” They shared snacks by the splash, fixing the lost-time worry with a thank-you hug. On their crinkled map, a cocoa splash and a tiny pebble made a heart, so they promised, “New plans can be the best plans.”
